DEF'N:
a Licensing Agreement, or license agreement,
is a contract between the owner of a patent, brand or trademark and
a company that wants to use the patented or trademarked for product
and services. The license grants permission to the licensee and includes
rules and stipulations. The licensee must honor these guidelines by
the licensor and the contract agreement by both parties.

The
year 2026 continued GPK license agreements from existing contracts,
in the absence of retired Ira Friedman (VP of Licensing & Publishing),
departing in late 2023, and brand-new contracts; it is still rumoured
that Fanatics wanted to limit and reduce the amount of GPK licenses,
as of 2024. Retail/hobby card releases have also slowed down, with only
chrome appearing at retail, with Topps online and hobby received exclusive
releases; regular online material held on to most of their scheduled
releases.
Alphabetically, the pre-existing license agreements with Topps for the Garbage Pail Kids brand and continued product up through the end of 2025 included, Abrams Books, Atomic Toybox (+ Bull Airs) Dynamite Entertainment, Get A Grip Skateboards, Greenlight Collectibles, Homage LLC, Hybris Production AB, License 2 Play Toys LLC (GPK 8" plush still listed), MLB [Major League Baseball], Monogram International, Inc. [GPK bank + figural bag clips still listed], National Bobblehead Hall of Fame & Museum, Polyphony, PSA, Super7, Thrilljoy Collectibles, Vinegar Syndrome, Zion Cases and WWE. New partnerships included the NBA [The National Basketball Association]. Per Non-Sport Update publication (Vol.36 • No.2 • April/May 2025), a Fanatics® Topps article, titled 'The Elephant in the Room', stated, "Along with Topps baseball cards, Fanatics also acquired the rights to produce Star Wars cards, and the ownership of Wacky Packages, Garbage Pail Kids and Mars Attacks. This is a new area of business for Fanatics, and they've been tight-lipped about their plans, but there are licensing deals in place that assure their big three original creations will still be around for a while, although the Martians haven't done much attacking lately." |

well in advance, usually by April of any given year, but as of June
2025, no announcement for a 2026 GPK calendar had appeared, and no 2026

Four and a half years after the hardcover version, Abrams Books released a softcover edition of their R.L.
